Deeply colored, the Napa Valley Petite Sirah is a classic example of the full-bodied, rich varietal. Generous in flavor, with blackberry, black cherry, mulberry and subtle hints of rose tea, vanilla, graphite, clove spice and sweet tobacco, this wine exhibits the full spectrum of Petite Sirah’s signature characteristics. The beautiful flavors remain fresh throughout, the tannins are dense, but unbelievably soft, and the finish is luxuriously long.

Winery Tasting Notes - For the second year in a row, the 2008 vintage started off with a very dry spring, which typically produces smaller clusters, smaller berries, and less canopy overall. Frost visited many vineyards over several nights in April, further reducing potential yield. Then a hot spell engulfed the region in the middle of May, while grape clusters were flowering, again threatening to lower yields. The main growing season, however, was without incident, with warm to hot days and cool nights the rule, and all of this cabernet was harvested between September 11th and October 27th. Aromas of blackberry, cocoa, and currant lead to a rich, layered mouthfeel, replete with black cherry, cedar, and cassis, and structured with lush, mature tannins. Enjoy this seductive cabernet sauvignon now and over the next several years.

Paul Hobbs Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine has quickly become one of the most compelling in the brand's portfolio. Offering a gorgeous deep purple hue, the vintage captivates with a bouquet of crushed blueberry, summer savory spice, and a delicate tobacco leaf note. The palate is remarkably balanced with well-integrated tannins and fresh acidity that wraps around boysenberry and black fig along subtle notes of rosemary and a crush rock minerality, which lends tension through the long finish. Highlighting a collection of estate and grower parcels that are defined by their proximity to the coast and Russian River, the wine displays a crimson hue and aromas of violet, Earl grey tea, and baked sour cherry. The velvet texture on the palate combines with flavors of Damson plum, red clay, and orange peel that ends with fresh acidity that lifts the palate, lengthening the wine’s finish.
