A rich garnet color with a ruby edge, the wine opens to reveal lifted fruit aromas of bright strawberry and jammy fruit, mocha, and vanilla, along with toasty oak notes. Expressive boysenberry, blackberry, dark cherry, juicy strawberry, and toasty mocha flavors lend complexity and depth on the palate. The well-integrated oak provides structure and depth seldom seen in Pinot Noir. -

Marqués de Riscal Reserva wines are basically made from grapes from Tempranillo vines planted before 1970's, grown in the best clay-limestone soils of the Rioja Alavesa. This variety withstands oak- and bottle ageing well thanks to its good balance of acidity and fine tannin. The Graciano and Mazuelo varieties, whose presence in the blend does not exceed 10%, provide crispness and a lively colour.Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 26ºC and the maceration time is never more than 12 days. Riscal reservas spend around two years in American Oak barrels, producing a wine which corresponds to the classic Rioja style: fresh, fine, elegant and very suitable for laying down for many years. Before release for sale it spends a minimum of one year rounding off in the bottle; time enough to show how much complexity tempranillo is able to achieve. -
A dark cherry colour with good depth. Balsamic aromas with hints of ripe fruit, complex and spicy. The attack is fresh and light, with soft, rounded tannins. The finish proves persistent with some reminders of toasted oak. Its passage through the mouth is pleasant and elegant, fresh and easy to drink. -

The wine is juicy on the palate with blackcurrant and blackberry flavors prominent, accented by roasted almonds, vanilla and hazelnuts, finishing long with fine, firm tannins. The complex flavor of this wine complements just about any well-seasoned meat such as beef, pork, or lamb, followed by an indulgent dessert or espresso. -

Aromas of cassis, cherry, cedar, red rose petal, and tobacco this wine's complexity continues through the flavors, which include red currant, cherry, blackberry and blueberry with a hint of vanilla from oak aging. Round tannins balance and support this medium-bodied wine's ripe fruit. -
Merlot presents a mature red color with a raspberry hue. Plummy fruit aromas are integrated with a chocolaty barrel signature of mocha and baking spice. Whole berry fermentation with a generous use of Malbec in the blend accentuates the fine tannins, bright fruit tones and lengthy finish. -
Winemaker Notes - Very dark, youthful red-purple in color, the 2004 vintage of J. Lohr Hilltop Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon has elegant aromas of black cherries, blackberries and black currants, with a bouquet of mint and toasty oak. The 2004 Hilltop Cabernet is a plump, mouthful of wine with a suppleness and ample texture and balance, reminiscent of Bordeaux’s finest Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines with the structure to age for 10 to 15 years. -
